Frequently Asked Questions

When is the best time to visit Tayrona Park?

The best time is between December and April, or July and August, which are the months with the lowest probability of rain. However, keep in mind that the park usually closes in February and October (sometimes also June) out of respect for indigenous communities.

Do eco-hotels near Tayrona have air conditioning?

The vast majority of glampings and ecohabs rely on fans and natural cross ventilation to maintain their commitment to sustainability. The most modern and luxurious hotels do have air conditioning in closed rooms.

How do I get from Santa Marta airport to Tayrona hotels?

The Simón Bolívar International Airport is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes by car from the El Zaino area (Tayrona's main entrance). The most comfortable and safest option is to hire a private transfer directly with the hotel or at the airport.

Is a yellow fever vaccine required to visit Tayrona?

Although the certificate is not required at all entrances currently, the Colombian Ministry of Health and park authorities strongly recommend having the yellow fever vaccine applied at least 10 days before visiting.
